Google is building a data center in Council Bluffs.
My mind boggles, given that I went to U of Iowa and had many friends at Iowa State as well. This puts some knowledge-based jobs in Iowa, but leaves them with several issues:

- They’ll have to compete for workers with the Sara Lee plant and a plastics plant where one of my college boyfriends worked over a summer, making plastic disposable medical devices.
OK, maybe that third isn’t a concern. But #1 and #2 sure should be, especially given the regular letters I get via the Iowa alumni association encouraging me to consider moving ‘home’ to Iowa. no no no no dear gods no.
