Council Bluffs Tourism

I somewhat recently (when measured in archaeological time) commented that Council Bluffs is a pit

– a pit where Google happens to be building a data center, in point of fact. Based on an ad in this weekend’s newspaper, I have found a web site that challenges that assertion: the CB Convention & Visitors Bureau site!

Gaming, sporting events, museums, historical sites, nature, annual festivals, performing arts facilities, world-class dining, and comfortable lodging await your reservation.

WOW. And here my college friends mostly talked about the smell of the old Sara Lee plant, and the summer that one of them spent in a plastics manufacuring job making implements for medical examinations of women. Maybe Google looked more at the city’s black squirrel mascot (‘Chipper’), and had stopped-up sinuses when they made their choice, and my friends are just crankys.

Ok so you were not wrong Council Bluffs is a pit! your point’s here are true
“# Everyone wants out of Iowa when they’re done being educated.
    # Council Bluffs is really really a pit, to the point where living in OMAHA and commuting will be attractive. Yeah, Omaha.”

I lived in Council Bluffs for 15 years before going to ISU. The real point is that since No child left behind was past every child has been left in CB. You have the majority of graduating seniors going to Kansville to pursue a career as a Walmart greeter. Many people never leave after High School and never benefit from it there. Recently all that above stuff has been added in the last couple years. When I lived there 3 years ago all there was, was the mall and that is it! Gaming and sporting events did not come in till they added the casinos and Sports arena a while back. Historical sites Are well hidden and I was the only one of my friends who knew where they were and went to them Quiet often. Lodgeing is just fancy for hotels. World class dining just added in the last couple years. The rest of them I never heard of unless they mean the Chanticleer theater and that is a joke at best, I acted there I know! Annual festivals? what? They better not be talking about rockfest or the pride parade! those were not the greatest!

Ok enough bashing of my hometown! Google will be a big improvement to Council Bluffs and hope fully bring it out of its pit!

WOW!! You guys have no idea what kind of community Council Bluffs really is and that is a shame.
I’ve lived here all of my life and I would not change it for anything.
It’s quite and decent, where neighbors still talk to each other. We don’t have a drive-by every weekend, Omaha is one up on that.
Google is going to love it here, as are the other businesses coming into town.
She has come along, long way, for those who forget that Council Bluffs was here first.
It’s just a shame that so many think it’s ok to bash this place without really getting to know it.
