Who is Julie?
Julie VanMersbergen is an online marketer living in Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minnesota. Starting from the days of dial-up BBSes, she has more than 18 years’ experience in online communities. Her specialization is developing online content, including information design and taxonomy, focusing on optimization for brand awareness, search and conversion.
Julie’s industry/vertical experience include high-tech, manufacturing, e-tail/catalog merchandising, real estate, automotive, and health care (medical and dental). Her current job involves supervising a team of search marketers serving a professional services vertical. She has significant experience in the non-profit sector as well.
Her current core professional interests include social media, database marketing ethics, splogging, and developing a caffeine IV drip suitable for transport between meetings.
She holds undergraduate degrees in English and economics, and a master’s degree in communications. Her graduate thesis focused on the development of online communications programs in non-profit settings. In her legendary abundant spare time, Julie is a League of American Bicyclists Certified Instructor, an avid bicyclist, and a published author of both short fiction and humorous non-fiction essays.
